AphasiaBank data is available through these three access levels, as defined
by NIH's Office of Data Science Strategy (ODSS):
Open access: The web pages at https://aphasia.talkbank.org are open access, as
are the analysis programs at https://talkbank.org such as CLAN, Chatter, and Batchalign.
Registration required: Two AphasiaBank corpora -- APROCSA
and Dysphagia -- are available on this level. These two corpora are
open to all established researchers, but users need to sign in and
register. To do this, users provide their email and create a password.
They then receive an email message asking them to confirm registration.
Once this is done, nearly all of CHILDES data are available for access
through download or browsing in the TalkBank browser.
Controlled access: As with the other clinical databases,
access to data in AphasiaBank is limited to registered established
researchers who send a request for AphasiaBank access in which they
verify their institutional status and agree to follow the TalkBank
Ground Rules at https://talkbank.org/0share/index.html. If these established
researchers require access for their students, we provide them access
for a specified period of time that is less than one year. We use the
TalkBank AdminView system at https://sla2.talkbank.org/AdminView to
control access. The creation of the AdminView system was funded by a
FAIR grant in 2023 from ODSS.
